How to Estimate Tree Removal Jobs
Tree removal cost is dependent largely on the size of the tree that needs to be dealt with, as well as a number of other important factors. For example, trees located close to buildings and communication lines are more difficult to remove safely than standalone trees of the same size. Also, collapsed trees that result in complicated situations (e.g. ones that have fallen though a building) are also more expensive to get safely dispose of.
With that being said, the majority of tree removal costs are based on the following price structure:
- Small trees (below 25 feet in height) cost around $10.00 per ft. Additional costs may be incurred if necessary. Usually, the total price varies between $250 and $1000 per tree.
- Medium trees (25-50 feet in height) are often more pricey, as the removal jobs involving such trees are generally more complicated. Total price is typically between $750 and $2,000.
- Large trees (above 50 feet in height) are the most expensive to remove, and can cost as much as $2,000 to for the least complicated jobs.
Collapsed trees that become stuck in the property (your house or garage) are the most complicated cases. Certainly, such tree removal tasks are the most expensive, particularly because they require significant crane usage. One hour of crane operation can cost as much as $1,000, so the total cost of removal could be $8,000 - $10,000.
Tree removal cost is estimated on a project-to-project basis due to the above reasons. As such, it's usually only possible to give a vague ballpark estimate without doing a live estimate. Nevertheless, it still might be useful to have this initial approximation before you get a quote from a service provider; we therefore have included it on our page.
Total cost usually includes all the jobs involved. Stump grinding is excluded from the estimate, so if you require that service, it will add relatively little to the price. The regular price is about 10$ per inch of the stump. Depending on the diameter of the stump, it can range from $125 to $1000.
